The Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings

was the final ground of rest as they prepared to meet the gods in their journey into the afterlife.
The tomb of

Tutankhamen

and Ramses the second, that were discovered in the 1920's are the most recent and remarkable discoveries of our time.

Although its modern paths detract a little from its atmosphere, it is still possible to feel the link to the distant past - especially when most of the tourists have left earlier in the day.

King Tut's tomb as well as many others are open for viewing and provide an interesting experience.
King Tut probably being the most famous.

However, there are many other more amazing tombs.
The tombs are not always opened , but try to see those belonging to Thutmose III (the Napoleon of Ancient

Egypt

), Ramses III, IV and VI, and

Horemheb

.
That of

Horemheb

contains examples of how workmen created wall reliefs.
The tomb of Seti I is unique , but structural problems keep it closed these days.

The Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens was built to protect and to lie to rest the remains of the Queens, consorts and children of the Kings during the Ancient times.
This area will remind visitors that the women in the Ancient times played an important role in the lives of the King and his people to be honored such a burial.

In the past the Valley of the Queens is widely known as Ta-Set-Neferu which means the place of the Children of the Pharaoh.
Most members of the Royal Family and many Noble Men who served the Royal Family during the Ancient days are buried here.

As of now only four tombs remain open to the public for viewing.
One that will guarantee awesome attraction is the tomb of Queen Nefertari.

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut

Queen Hatshepsut is one of the most powerful rulers in

Egypt

ian history.
She was the longest reigning woman ruler who is of the native descent.
The power that the Queen Hatshepsut had over

Egypt

is shown with the building of the Temple of Hatshepsut.

The mortuary Temple of 18th-

dynasty

Queen Hatshepsut is a masterpiece of design and has been under restoration for about a century.
It is built into a natural amphitheatre in the cliffs and does not look out of place in the 20th century, even though it was constructed during the early 15th century BC.
